Covers the 12-week-long strike at Kinleith Pulp and Paper Mill, owned by New Zealand Forest Products in January 1980.
Strike action by major unions brought production to a halt. The strike inspired community spirit and family support for the 530 striking workers and the 3000 out of work as a result of the strike.
After 8 weeks and intervention by the Government, a number of workers spoke at various workplaces throughout the country to support the strike and the plight of the families involved. As a result $630,000 was donated to aid the workers.
On 27th March workers met and their demands were met, ending the strike.
