Crowds gather outside the Basilica of The Sacred Heart. Sign above the entrance of the Basilica reads “Archbishop’s Jubilee 1847-1934.” Distinguished guests arriving for the service include: Chief Justice, Prime Minister, Ministers of Cabinet, Mayor Hislop and Mrs Hislop, of Wellington. Catholic Bishops, priests and many others make their way to the Basilica to celebrate Archbishop Redwood’s 60th Anniversary as Bishop of the Catholic Church.
A large procession of all denominations parade through the streets of Wellington to Basin Reserve. 93 year old Bishop Redwood arrives in an open-air car for the service.
