The Evening Post reported that: “[a] busy day was spent by Mr D McLaren, Labour candidate for Wellington East, yesterday. He delivered four open-air addresses - one in the Post Office Square, one at Haitaitai, and one at North and South Kilbirnie. The principal planks of the platform of the Labour Party were dealt with, and the speaker, after each address, was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.” (Evening Post, 6 December 1911).
