Tom Bradley presents the news of the day. David Lange has arrived in Europe to discuss the protectionist policies of the Europe market and their impact of New Zealand’s agricultural exports. Lange also visits the Flanders battlefield. [Foreign news] After more than two months lying idle, the Nissan car assembly plant in South Auckland went back into action today after a strike begun 10 weeks ago. Managers say the Nissan Way has won out. Unions affiliated with the Labour Party met in Wellington today to plan moves to change the Government’s policies. They want to replace Rogernomics with more traditional Labour goals. There is concern in the Party that the Government is no longer listening to the unions. Financial and sharemarket news.

Rob Neale presents the issues of the day. The unusual decision to send a young sex offender to the Legionnaires Academy, a privately run self-help group based on military lines, has been described today by the opposition’s John Banks as an action of a judiciary out of touch with reality. The decision highlights the lack of facilities in Auckland for such offenders. Rob Neale interviews Paul East, Opposition Justice Spokesman.
