Angela d’Audney presents the news. There have been angry reactions tonight from several people who were mentioned in Parliament tonight by Opposition Leader Jim Bolger in connection with white collar fraud. Among those named in the report is former National MP Sir Peter Tait. The Government is to sell the Government Printing Office. News of the sale has come as a shock to the workers at the Government Printing Office. A new strain of influenza has hit Christchurch, killing at least 11 elderly people. Police in Fiji investigating the drug smuggling ring have arrested two members of the deposed Bavandra government. [Foreign news] Financial and sharemarket news.

Rob Neale presents the issues of the day in depth. The government appears to be going cold on its proposal to tax charity organisations. Social Welfare Minister Michael Cullen says the tax proposal may not be the best way to go and the government is still in two minds about it.
