Sacked Finance Minister Roger Douglas has claimed that he could have done a far better job than David Lange over the past year. At a large rally organised by Rogernomics supporters known as the “Backbone Club” Douglas promised to abide by the outcome of tomorrows Labour Party leadership vote, but said that the battle over issues would go on. Speaker: Roger Douglas (Former Finance Minister).

A special Eyewitness Poll shows that Lange is the preferred Labour Party leader amongst current Cabinet Ministers and between himself and Douglas. But Douglas is trusted more than Lange amongst most voters and remains the favoured Finance Minister.

Speculation remains about whether Mike Moore will stand in tomorrows leadership ballot. Speaker: David Caygill (Finance Minister).
