Emi, a Sister in Wellington Hospital, writes to her friend Mele in Samoa about what she will have to get used to if she also comes to New Zealand, and her own doubts about returning to Samoa. With her New Zealand nursing friends, Emi has dinner at a restaurant, goes shopping with Jane and plays tennis with Mary-Jo. She visits her Samoan friend Aloma and her family at their home in Porirua. These activities are compared with ones in the different world of Samoa.
